Domaine Rossignol-Trapet is a family business based in Gevrey-Chambertin, in one of the most famous villages in Burgundy. It is located in the northern part of the Côte de Nuits, between Fixin and Morey-Saint-Denis. The estate includes plots in the Appellation Village area and in some prestigious Premier Cru and Grand Cru. The Gevrey-Chambertin vineyard lies at the foot and sides of the Combe de Lavaux, with different microclimates depending on exposure and altitude, which varies from 280 to 380 metres above sea level. In the Grand Cru and Premier Cru area, the soils are predominantly composed of limestone or calcareous marl, while they have a higher percentage of silt and clay in the lower area, occupied by the vineyards that are part of the Village appellation. The area was already famous for its wines in the 7th century and was recognised with the Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée in 1936.

Confirming its inestimable value, the Gevrey-Chambertin area is home to no fewer than 26 Climats classified as Premier Cru and 9 Grand Crus. The origins of Domaine Rossignol-Trapet date back to the 18th century and today it covers a total area of some fifteen hectares, divided into many small plots located in the communal territories of Gevrey-Chambertin, Beaune and Savigny-lès-Beaun. The vines are cultivated almost exclusively with Pinot Noir, except for a few small parcels of Chardonnay. Agronomic management is based on respect for nature and biodiversity, with application of the Ecocert-certified organic farming protocol and Demeter-certified biodynamic practices. Thanks to the attention paid to the vineyard, healthy, genuine grapes with excellent ripeness arrive at harvest time.

In the cellar, work is geared solely towards enhancing the quality of the grapes, with winemaking reduced to a minimum in order to preserve the varietal notes of the grape varieties and the imprint of an extraordinary terroir. Vinification is carried out with the aim of obtaining elegant and refined wines, capable of restoring all the charm of two great grapes such as Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The same attention is paid to ageing, which takes place in French oak barrels, using a variable percentage of new wood, in relation to the cuvée and the characteristics of each vintage, so as to achieve perfect maturation of the wines, without the presence of predominant notes of wood.
