Etna Rosso DBE - Tenuta Solisciaro 2021

DBE - Tenuta Solisciaro's Etna Rosso is an intense and complex red wine produced in Sicily, Italy. It is made from only Nerello Mascalese grapes from 20-year-old vines on the slopes of Mount Etna, on the northern slope and, thanks to the volcanic soils, the result is an intensely aromatic wine to experience. It is matured for 12 months in second-passage oak barrels and a further six months in the bottle, after which it produces vivid fruity aromas of wild strawberries, rose petals, hints of vanilla and a spicy hint on the finish. Goes well with red meats and mature cheeses

ETNA ROSSO DBE - TENUTA SOLISCIARO 2021 DESCRIPTION

The renowned Sicilian producer De Bartoli presents the Etna Rosso DBE – Tenuta Solisciaro, an expression of commendable complexity and elegance, resulting from the family's established expertise. After focusing on the regions of Marsala, the historic home of the winery, and Pantelleria, where the family arrived in the early 1980s, the De Bartoli family has launched a new winemaking project on the slopes of Mount Etna. Here, specifically in the municipality of Castiglione di Sicilia, on the northern side of the volcano, the family manages just over 2 hectares of vineyards, largely dedicated to Nerello Mascalese, the undisputed protagonist of the northern slope.

The Etna Rosso De Bartoli Tenuta Solisciaro – DBE is a pure Nerello Mascalese from 20-year-old vines grown on volcanic soils at an altitude of 750 meters above sea level. After harvesting, the grapes are transported to the winery and fermented in stainless steel tanks for spontaneous alcoholic fermentation at controlled temperatures, accompanied by 10 days of contact between the must and the skins, during which daily pump-overs are performed to promote the extraction of noble compounds. The subsequent aging phase takes place in second-use oak barrels, where the wine rests for 12 months until final bottling.

In the glass, the Etna Rosso DBE – Tenuta Solisciaro from De Bartoli exhibits an intense ruby red color. The aromatic profile is defined by captivating scents of ripe berries and red rose, accompanied by deep spicy and toasted notes of vanilla, black pepper, tobacco, and licorice. The palate is dry, complex, and intense, where the soft body blends with sweet tannins and a pronounced fresh-salty push, culminating in a long and elegant finish.
