Nevio Scala's Semi-sparkling Ancestral wine 'Regina' is dry, lively and authentic, a blend of Moscati grapes grown in the Euganean Hills. It is a tribute to the 'queen' of aromatic grapes, the Moscato, and to grandmother Regina, the centenarian family matriarch. Intense hints of white flowers and citrus fruits open the scene to delicate hints of yeast and herbs. The palate is fresh, drinkable and flowing, without skimping on substance. Perfect with cicchetti veneti, sopressa and grilled shellfish
Nevio Scala's Frizzante Ancestrale 'Regina' is a bottle-fermented wine with a suave aromatic essence, the result of a blend of the aromatic Moscato Giallo and Moscato Bianco grape varieties. In general, the Muscat family is immediately recognisable by its distinctive aroma of white musk, hence the name Moscato. The appellation 'Regina' is a tribute to this very family, which has always been 'queen' among aromatic varieties and 'queen' of the Euganean Hills, home of the Nevio Scala winery. Moreover, this bottle is dedicated to Regina, Nevio's mother, who lived more than 100 years in the shadow of the Moscato vineyards.
The 'Regina' Nevio Scala Frizzante Ancestrale originates from a blend of Moscato Giallo (65%) and Moscato Bianco (35%), varieties cultivated according to the principles of certified organic farming in the locality of Corte, in the commune of Lozzo Atestino, on sandy soils of volcanic origin. The bunches, harvested entirely by hand, are transferred to the cellar for destemming and gentle pressing. The must thus obtained undergoes spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in cement vats, with the mass being bottled with the fermentation process still in progress so as to perform the slight frothing directly in the bottle according to the Ancestrale Method, without the addition of exogenous sugars. The final release finally takes place after an appropriate period of rest.
The Ancestrale Frizzante 'Regina' from the Nevio Scala winery is pale straw yellow in colour, slightly cloudy. On the nose, fragrant yeasty sensations alternate with pleasant aromatic notes of dried jasmine, peach, lemon peel, white musk and sage. The marked freshness and lively effervescence lend an electric character to the progression along with the decisive savoury timbre that anticipates the dry but soft finish.
