GAVI DEL COMUNE DI GAVI 'ETICHETTA ORO' MARCHESE RAGGIO 2020 DESCRIPTION

The Gavi del Comune di Gavi "Etichetta Oro" Marchese Raggio, produced by the La Lomellina di Gavi Marchese Raggio winery, is a refined white wine of great elegance, which interprets the Cortese vine faithfully, highlighting its varietal peculiarities and the character of a vocated terroir. Only a great white, in fact, could emerge and make its way into a land predominantly identified as the home of great reds. Its clear, crisp profile and expressive finesse make it an excellent wine to pair with seafood hors d'oeuvres or with fish and white meat menus.

"Etichetta Oro" is a Gavi del Comune di Gavi, which sees the light in the lands of the La Lomellina di Gavi Marchese Raggio estate, which has been present in southern Piedmont for over two hundred years, where the Cortese vine expresses itself in an excellent manner, giving fresh and delicate whites. The grapes come from the company's estate, which is located in the classic area of Gavi. The vineyards enjoy splendid hillside positions, at an altitude of between 250 and 280 metres above sea level, with south-east facing exposure. The vines are rooted in soils composed of white marl rich in sand, particularly suited to the cultivation of white varieties. Harvesting takes place in the second half of September, with manual harvesting and selection of the best bunches in the vineyard. After soft pressing, the flower must ferment in stainless steel tanks at a low temperature. The wine matures for about 6 months in steel and then for 4 months in the bottle.

The white wine Gavi del Comune di Gavi 'Etichetta Oro' Marchese Raggio, produced by the La Lomellina di Gavi Marchese Raggio winery, expresses the best characteristics of this noble and ancient Piedmontese grape variety in a sincere and forthright manner. Luminous pale straw yellow in colour with brilliant highlights, it expresses on the nose aromas of ripe citrus fruits, white-fleshed fruit, green apple, peach, yellow-skinned melon, floral nuances, aromatic herbs of the Mediterranean scrub and hints of iodine. Delicate and fragrant, it presents pleasantly fruity aromas accompanied by savoury sensations and clear freshness.
