PULIGNY MONTRACHET PREMIER CRU 'LES COMBETTES' DOMAINE JACQUES PRIEUR 2019 DESCRIPTION

The Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru "Les Combettes" by Domaine Jacques Prieur is a prestigious label, born in the heart of the Côte de Beaune, between Meursault and Santenay. It is an area rich in history, which has its roots in the Middle Ages, when it was founded by the Cistercian Abbey of Maizières. In these lands, the Chardonnay reaches the highest levels of expression and gives a white of extraordinary charm and elegance, intense, complex and long-lived. It is excellent to be tasted in combination with shellfish, seafood pasta, baked fish, noble poultry, delicate white meat or medium-aged cheeses.

"Les Combettes", Jacques Prieur’s Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru, is produced by a historic domaine of Mersault, which covers a total of 21 hectares, 11 cultivated with Pinot Noir and 10 in Chardonnay, with plots in the Grand Cru of: Montrachet, Chevalier-Montrachet, Corton-Charlemagne, Corton-Bressandes, Echézeaux, Clos Vougeot, Musigny, Chambertin, Chambertin Clos de Bèze and 14 other prestigious Premiers Crus. The label is born in a plot of about one and a half hectares. It is a beautiful vineyard located near the village of Puligny-Montrachet, in the heart of the Côte de Beaune, with a beautiful sunny exposure facing south east. The mild climate and soils composed of limestone-clay marl rich in pebbles, promote excellent ripening with particularly rich aromatic elements. At the end of the manual harvest, the best grapes selected in the vineyard are gently pressed. The must ferments directly in French oak barrels and the wine ages, always in barrique, for 19 months, also carrying out malolactic fermentation.

The Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru "Les Combettes" by Domaine Jacques Prieur is a remarkable Chardonnay, in the best tradition of one of the most suitable areas of Burgundy for the production of great whites. The color is a beautiful bright gold color with brilliant reflections. Fine and elegant, it conquers with scents of lime peel, grapefruit, delicate nuances of orange blossom and acacia flowers, aromas of apple, pear, peach, sensations of pain brioche and pastry, toasted hints and dried fruit. With a good structure, it has rich and mature aromas, complex and multifaceted, which extend harmoniously towards a savory finish, characterized by a good persistence and a pleasing citrine crispness.
