Quilometro Arribas Wine Company 2021

The ‘Quilómetro’ by Arribas Wine Company is a fine red wine and a perfect example of craftsmanship. It comes from ancient vineyards whose grapes are crushed according to the traditional method, with the feet in stone lagars. The blend of red and white grapes lends freshness and finesse, while ageing in French oak enhances the balance. The nose recalls oceanic influences with iodine hints, crowning a rich profile of red fruits and balsamic herbs. The palate is juicy, with a subtle tannic texture and marked savouriness

QUILOMETRO ARRIBAS WINE COMPANY 2021 DESCRIPTION

The 'Quilometro' is a Portuguese red wine with a juicy and dynamic flavour, produced in the historical region of Trás-os-Montes by the Arribas Wine Company. This estate was founded in 2017 in a small garage located in the town of Bemposta, included in the municipality of Mogadouro. The objective of the winery is to produce authentic wines, expressions of traditional techniques, indigenous grape varieties and old vineyards in the area.

Arribas Wine Company's 'Quilometro' originates from a composite blend of red and white grapes from the varieties Tinta Gorda, Tinta Serrana, Bastardo, Rufete, Alvarelhão, Alfrocheiro, Verdelho, Malvasia, Bastardo Branco, Posto Branco and Formosa, among others. These vines, represented by vines over 70 years old, are cultivated at an altitude of 600 metres above sea level. Manual harvesting is followed by whole cluster red vinification with spontaneous alcoholic fermentation accompanied by 15 days of carbonic maceration. After this period, the wine is then pressed with the feet, avoiding excessive extraction, with a further 15-day skin maceration. Alcoholic fermentation finishes in French oak barrels of several passages, the same wine containers where malolactic fermentation and 24 months ageing take place. After resting for 7 months in steel, the wine is finally bottled, without undergoing any clarification or filtration.

Arribas Wine Company's 'Quilometro' is a lively ruby red colour. The aromas range from fruity notes of cherry to floral nuances of lavender, passing through hints of Mediterranean herbs such as thyme and rosemary. Soft, juicy and flowing on the palate, characterised by a silky and graceful tannic texture that contributes to a dynamic taste.

When to drink
Wine good to drink now, but that can have a beautiful evolution after resting for a while in your cellar
Glass
Medium open goblet
Perfect for young and medium bodied red wines which don't require excessive oxygenation to open. The opening, slightly tighter than the body of the glass, favors the concentration of aromas towards the nose, enhancing the perception of aromas and limiting the dispersion
Longevity
You can let it rest in the cellar for more than 5 years
