The Salice Salentino "Faneros" is a blend of Negramaro and Malvasia Nera grapes grown in the traditional Puglian bush vine style within the Alta Murgia National Park. The alcoholic fermentation is preceded by a long maceration in steel tanks, which preserve the notes of earth, mushrooms, and underbrush. There are direct notes of blackberry and ripe cherry, accompanied by hints of licorice and pink pepper. The body is soft and pleasant, confirming the elegant notes of berries.

“Faneros” is the name that Torrevento gives to its Salice Salentino grown in Corato, in the province of Bari. The great federician fortress of Castel del Monte towers where a Benedictine monastery was built in 1400. Francesco Liantonio, alongside the oenologist Leonardo Palumbo, masterfully produces prestigious labels, enhancing the grape varieties historically linked to his land, including Bombino Bianco and Nero, Nero di Troia, and Aglianico. The Alta Murgia National Park welcomes the origins of this label, accompanying it in its growth among its ruggedness and with its wild soul, providing dry summers and mild winters that concentrate its aromatic profile.

The Salice Salentino “Faneros” by Torrevento is obtained from predominantly Negramaro grapes, supported by Malvasia Nera, grown using the traditional Pugliese bush training system and rooted in clayey soils with medium texture, perfectly exposed to the sun. The daily temperature excursions and constant ventilation allow the establishment of of the typical aromatic profile. The grapes undergo a long maceration followed by alcoholic fermentation carried out primarily in stainless steel tanks, where the aging period also takes place, lasting about 10 months.

Torrevento with its “Faneros” gives us a Salice Salentino dressed in an intense ruby red, which over the years reaches an orange hue. The aromatic profile is very interesting, the bouquet is intense, with clear notes of wet earth and underbrush, as well as the presence of ripe cherry and blackberry, with a finish that leans towards licorice and pink pepper. The tasting is aromatic and intense. The full body of a label that pairs pleasantly with roasts and red meats, but also with cured meats and cheeses. A glass of wild and unexpected Puglia, pleasant and austere, yet amiable and profoundly interesting.
