Sangue di Giuda Giorgi 2022

The Sangue di Giuda from the Giorgi winery is a pleasantly sweet and sparkling wine primarily made from Croatina and Barbera grapes, with a small percentage of Vespolina, Uva Rara, and Pinot Nero. The most suitable area for producing this label is the eastern part of the Oltrepò Pavese territory, where the clay-limestone soils best suit the desired organoleptic qualities of this wine with unique characteristics. The Giorgi winery, always family-run, perhaps guarantees one of the best expressions of Sangue di Giuda from the Pavese region.

The winemaking process begins after the harvest, when the grapes are transported to the cellar and undergo careful manual selection of the most suitable clusters. The selected grapes are then crushed and destemmed, and the resulting must undergoes fermentation in contact with the skins for a short period. Subsequently, the must is transferred to thermo-conditioned stainless steel autoclaves where the sparkling process takes place, and the desired sugar level is decided and maintained. The Sangue di Giuda is then aged for several months in stainless steel containers under controlled pressure before bottling.

The Oltrepò Pavese Sangue di Giuda from Giorgi presents itself with a bright purple-red color and a beautiful creamy, thick, and persistent foam. On the nose, intense and fragrant vinous notes emerge, followed by hints of wild strawberries, ripe red fruits, blueberry jam, and sour cherries. Subtle hints of dried flowers and spicy notes add to its good complexity. In the mouth, it is sweet, medium-bodied, pleasantly drinkable with good intensity and persistence.
