VALTELLINA SUPERIORE RISERVA GRUMELLO 'SANT'ANTONIO' AR.PE.PE. 2016 DESCRIPTION

Valtellina Superiore Riserva Grumello "Sant'Antonio" is a red wine of absolute depth, which already gives emotions, but in the future will amaze even more with its complexity and depth. The name pays homage to the Church of Sant'Antonio di Montagna in Valtellina, a building from the top of which one can observe the incessant work done by Ar.Pe.Pe. among the rows of Chiavennasca, the name for the Nebbiolo grape in this area. A full and intense label, generous on the palate and broad on the nose, perfect for sharing with friends who are fans of great Valtellina Nebbiolos.

"Sant'Antonio" Valtellina Superiore Riserva Grumello is made from the Nebbiolo grape, locally called Chiavennasca in Valtellina. Ar.Pe.Pe. grows this grape variety in vineyards located about 400-450 meters above sea level, in south-facing plots. Harvesting took place towards the end of October, with yields never exceeding 40 hectoliters per hectare. The must ferments in large wooden vats, macerating on the skins for a full 45 days. This is followed by aging, in which the wine remains first to mature for 60 months in large chestnut barrels, and then, after bottling, for another 36 months directly in the bottle.

Valtellina Superiore Riserva Grumello "Sant'Antonio" reveals itself to the eye with a bright and brilliant garnet red color. The nose is refined and elegant, shot through with hints of dried flowers, balsamic touches and tobacco notes. On the palate it is full-bodied, muscular and austere thanks to a dense sip that moves smoothly, however, thanks to a fresh and drinkable timbre; the tannic texture is important. A great Lombardy red signed Ar.Pe.Pe., perfect for celebrating the coming winter: if you are planning a pierrade dinner at the chalet, then this is the label for you!
