Vermentino di Gallura Vendemmia Tardiva 'Montidimola' by Vigne Surrau is a very structured white wine, a tribute to the song of the same name by Fabrizio de Andrè, but also to the Costa Smeralda, once known by this very name. Made from Vermentino grapes ripened late and fermented, in part, in French oak barrels, this wine expresses hints of broom, vanilla and lychee on the nose, while on the palate it is smooth and well-balanced. A white wine to be paired, without fail, with seafood cuisine, but which also offers valuable cues with white meats and with mushroom and truffle preparations

The Vermentino di Gallura ‘Montidimola’ Late Harvest by Vigne Surrau is a full-bodied and rich expression of Vermentino, produced among the granite rocks of Gallura from grapes harvested at slight overripeness. Through late harvesting, the grapes achieve a higher concentration of dry matter, particularly sugars, as well as specific aromatic precursors that are essential to the wine’s final character. Specifically for ‘Montidimola,’ whose name pays homage to the stunning Costa Smeralda, once known by the Gallurese term “Monti di Mola,” the same grapes used for the Vermentino di Gallura Superiore ‘Sciala’ are employed but harvested later.
Vigne Surrau Vermentino di Gallura Late Harvest ‘Montidimola’ is made from 100% Vermentino grapes grown on medium-textured granite soils tending toward sandy. The late harvest is followed by destemming and pre-fermentative cold maceration for 12–24 hours. After gentle pressing, the must undergoes alcoholic fermentation, with 50% of the volume fermenting in large, untoasted French oak barrels and the other 50% in stainless steel and concrete tanks. After blending, the wine matures on its lees for 6 months in steel and concrete, followed by an additional aging period of at least 6–9 months in the bottle before being released to the market.
On visual examination, the Vigne Surrau Vermentino di Gallura Late Harvest ‘Montidimola’ displays a beautiful straw-yellow color with golden highlights. The aromatic profile reveals intense notes of lychee, ripe fruit, citrus zest, broom, vanilla, and Mediterranean scrub herbs. On the palate, it is soft, broad, and persistent, well-supported by pleasant freshness and a distinct saline note.
