VERMOUTH BIANCO CONTROCORRENTE DESCRIPTION

Controcorrente's Vermouth Bianco is the finest and most refined version of the famous spiced wine created in Turin by Antonio Benedetto Carpano in 1786. The use of a white wine base instead of red was introduced precisely to meet the tastes of a clientele that demanded a less structured and intense aperitif. The Controcorrente version was created with the idea of a perfect Martini cocktail to enjoy on a summer evening by the sea in the company of friends. Inspired by this suggestion, it expresses a soft and elegant bouquet, characterised above all by fragrant citrus notes and fresh sensations of balsamic and officinal herbs.

Controcorrente's Vermouth Bianco spiced wine is born simply and naturally. The production process follows the oldest customs of spiced wines, which, although only codified into a proper recipe in the 18th century, have been part of history since ancient times. The base wine comes from the Veneto winery of Daniele Piccinin, which works under certified organic farming. The blend is composed of Chardonnay, which gives fragrance, fruit aromas, aromaticity and structure, and Durella, which contributes a clear and lively freshness. For the infusions, carefully chosen botanicals are selected to achieve a harmonious and balanced end result. The main ingredients include citrus peels, mandarin, lemon balm, chamomile and spices. The infusion is filtered; only alcohol and sugar are added and bottled.

Controcorrente's Vermouth Bianco is perfect for enjoying neat or on the rocks as an aperitif, in the best tradition of 19th-century Turin, which then spread throughout Italy and the world. Its expressive finesse also makes it very suitable as an ingredient for preparing classic cocktails of tradition. To the eye, it is light yellow with bright, brilliant golden reflections. The bouquet is intense and refined, with scents of white flowers, hawthorn, acacia and orange blossom, hints of citrus peel, delicately spiced aromas and fragrant sensations of medicinal herbs and balsamic plants. The entry on the palate is soft and suave, with a harmonious, rich, persistent sip and a pleasantly fresh finish.
