Viognier D'A 2022

Domaine Astruc - D'A's Viognier originates in Languedoc Roussillon, precisely in Madras, a small village at the foot of the Pyrenees. The family-run winery was founded in 1862 by Jean Astruc and falls within the estate of Jean-Paul Das, which covers about 400 hectares. Today it is one of the area's flagship wineries with its 12 hectares of vines that include the major traditional grape varieties of this area.

Domaine Astruc - D'A's pure Viognier grapes grow in a climate characterized by the presence of milder Mediterranean Sea breezes and cold winds from the Atlantic Ocean, which provide a helpful temperature swing for the grapes to reach full ripeness. The soil is mainly composed of limestone, which guarantees the final product an exemplary character structure. The harvest is conducted manually, and the must ages 40% in steel and the remainder in French and American barriques.

To the eye, the Viognier of Domaine Astruc - D'A is an intense straw yellow with bright and intense reflections; the aromas are reminiscent of lily of the valley, orange blossom and acacia in union with fruity hints such as peach and apricot. The mouth is characterized by an enveloping softness and a unique delicacy balanced by a slight acidity on the finish that entices drinking cup after cup. In pairing, it is excellent with steamed fish dishes, shellfish and crustaceans; interesting with chicken curry. A table wine that reflects the authentic barrels of the land of France and expresses the inherent richness and potential.
