BIANCO 'NO LAND VINEYARD' FERLAT 2020 DESCRIPTION

The white wine 'No Land Vineyard' from the Friulian winery Ferlat is a label that combines complexity and smoothness. It is a blend of three white grape varieties from the Collio tradition, processed through prolonged maceration on the skins. Since 1950, Ferlat's production has been dedicated to the cultivation of indigenous varieties in Cormons, in the province of Gorizia, but it was in 2000, with Moreno Ferlat, that the real turning point in terms of quality occurred. In fact, in that year, production began to be bottled internally as well as being sold in bulk.

Ferlat Bianco 'No Land Vineyard' is an orange wine made from a blend of Friulano (50%), Ribolla Gialla (30%) and Chardonnay (20%) from vines with an average age of 40 years-old. The three grapes, harvested at the same time aiming for an excellent average level of ripeness, are destemmed, crushed and fermented in cement vats thanks to the exclusive intervention of indigenous yeasts. Contact between the fermenting must and the skins lasts for about 20 days, after which pressing and spontaneous malolactic fermentation take place. Subsequently, the wine is placed partly in old tonneaux and partly in steel vats for about a year's maturation on the fine lees.

The Friulian macerated white 'No Land Vineyard' from Ferlat has a straw-yellow hue with golden reflections. The bouquet expresses hints of tropical fruit, citrus peel, white-fleshed fruit, aromatic herbs, acacia flowers and jasmine. Fresh, lively and smooth on the palate, not lacking in richness and complexity. The decisive savoury trail and a delicate tannic perception guide the long finish on the palate, consistent with the olfactory profile.
