The Bordeaux Rouge signed Chateau Michelet stands out for its balanced and fruity taste, characteristics that the entirely stainless steel processing to which the wine is subjected manages to enhance. It is a classic Bordeauxblend, "Bordeaux blend" in English, a term coined in the 19th century by British merchants to indicate wines made from a combination of traditional Bordeaux varieties, especially Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, although the definition also includes Petit Verdot, Malbec and Carmenere, grapes that are much less common than the first three.
Chateau Michelet Bordeaux Rouge originates from a blend of the Bordeaux grape varieties Merlot (45%), Cabernet Sauvignon (30%) and Cabernet Franc (25%), varieties cultivated using low environmental impact practices, as evidenced by the Haute Valeur Environnementale (HVE) certification, i.e. High Environmental Value. In particular, the vines grow on clay-limestone soils characterised by an excellent south-westerly exposure, in the region's distinctive oceanic climate. Following the harvest, the grapes are transferred to the winery and vinified in red by alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with a variable period of maceration on the skins. Also in stainless steel, the wine rests for several months during the subsequent maturation phase that precedes the final bottling.
Chateau Michelet's Bordeaux Rouge possesses an intense red-purple colour. The olfactory panorama is described by clear fruity scents reminiscent of red fruit jam, surrounded by a pleasant spicy texture and evocative hints of underbrush. Well-balanced and of excellent freshness is the progression on the palate, characterised by sweet, well-integrated tannins that accompany the final persistence.
