DOLCETTO DI DIANO D'ALBA 'SORÌ MONTAGRILLO' CLAUDIO ALARIO 2022 DESCRIPTION

Dolcetto di Diano d'Alba "Sorì Montagrillo" from Claudio Alario winery is a generous and fruity red wine produced in Diano d'Alba, in the Piedmontese province of Cuneo. The "Sorì Montagrillo" is a vineyard well exposed to the sun; the "Sorì", or a cru as the French would say, is located at about 300 meters of altitude with south-east exposure. This label is made from 100% Dolcetto grapes from vines, about 25 years old, Bred with the traditional method to guyot on soils characterized by soils rich in limestone whitish marl. The winery is an interesting family-run owner of about 10 hectares, now managed in first person by Claudio Alario and his son Matteo, who, having eliminated the use of herbicides and synthetic products, are increasingly moving towards high-quality viticulture.

The "Sorì Montagrillo" Dolcetto is produced with grapes harvested by hand, generally towards the middle of September. The grapes brought to the cellar are pressed and then they undergo alcoholic fermentation, with maceration on the skins for a few weeks, in thermo-conditioned stainless steel horizontal round-hermeterists. The wine is then racked, pressed and aged in stainless steel tanks for about 12 months before being bottled.

The Diano d'Alba Dolcetto "Sorì Montagrillo" by Claudio Alario shows a bright ruby red color, with a full and characteristic flavor of ripe fruit and berries, including plum, currant, blackberry and blueberry, floral notes of purple and other red flowers, to finish on balsamic and spicy scents, including licorice on all. The mouthfeel is dry, soft and fresh, with good tannins and a slight bitter aftertaste in the finish. This Dolcetto from Claudio Alario winery is a truly pleasant and balanced red
