'Elektra Anfora' Valdisole

Elektra' is a macerated white wine produced by Valdisole, a young, out-of-the-ordinary Piedmontese winery operating in the Roero in a responsible, artisanal manner. This unusual wine is made from almost completely disappeared grapes that Giuseppe and Kyriaki with great luck managed to take over from a plot of land in the area. Elegant, decisive and full-bodied, 'Elektra' is a 'brash', direct and very aromatic wine, with notes of clementine, mint and rosemary: a rare bottle not to be missed!

'ELEKTRA ANFORA' VALDISOLE DESCRIPTION

Valdisole 'Elektra' is an orange wine with an"electric" soul, the result of a long maceration on the skins of grapes from old vines. Valdisole is a beautiful artisanal winery in the Roero area that by choice produces its labels outside the area's noble appellations, all with the aim of preserving its stylistic freedom, without any kind of regulatory constraints. There are numerous indigenous grape varieties that owners Giuseppe Amato and Kyriaki Kalimeri cultivate, and among them, special mention should be made of Malvasia Moscata, an ancient white grape variety that belongs to the Malvasia family. Due to its high susceptibility to fungal diseases such as powdery mildew, this once widespread aromatic grape has been gradually disappearing over the centuries, and only recently have a few wineries such as Valdisole been rediscovering and enhancing its value.

'Elektra' Valdisole is derived from a single white berry variety grown within a 70-year-old vineyard without the use of pesticides, insecticides and other synthetic chemicals. The soil on which the grapes grow is rich in clay and limestone, and the harvest is done entirely by hand. In the winery the bunches undergo the operation of crushing and destemming, followed by spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in 700-liter oak and acacia barrels, containers in which the prolonged 7-month maceration on the skins takes place . About halfway through the fermentation process, 5% whole clusters are then added and the wine is finally bottled without undergoing clarification or filtration.

The color of Valdisole's orange wine 'Elektra' is a bright, intense orange. Clear perceptions of dried flowers, candied orange peel and apricot characterize the olfactory texture along with pleasant hints of iodine and almond on the finish. In the mouth it is taut and vibrant, savory and free-range, yet not without a certain elegance, with a savory and very fragrant finish.
