BOLGHERI ROSATO 'SCALABRONE' GUADO AL TASSO - ANTINORI 2023 DESCRIPTION

The Bolgheri Rosé "Scalabrone" from the Antinori family's Tenuta Guado al Tasso is a rosé that well represents the terroir of this corner of the Tuscan coast. It is, in fact, made with three international grape varieties that have made Bolgheri's fortune: Cabernet Sauvignon, which gives elegance and structure; Merlot, which gives soft fruity notes; and Syrah, which helps enrich the bouquet with a touch of spice. The result is a rosé that is intense, fruity and rich in intriguing aromatic facets. At the table, it goes very well with a board of savoury Tuscan cured meats, with white meats or with seafood guazzetti with tomato sauce.

Rosato "Scalabrone" is born in the heart of Tenuta Guado al Tasso, a splendid estate located in the territory of Castagneto Carducci, between the Bolgherese and Aurelia roads. The Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah vines are cultivated in the Bolgherese amphitheatre on soils of rather a heterogeneous origin, predominantly alluvial matrix, characterized by the presence of sand, silt, clay, and abundant skeleton. The three grape varieties are harvested and vinified separately, following the different ripening periods. After destemming, soft pressing is carried out with brief contact with the skins to extract all the aromas. Fermentation is carried out in steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 16 °C. Then blending takes place, and the wine rests a few months in steel tanks before bottling.

Bolgheri Rosato wine "Scalabrone," made by Antinori on the Guado al Tasso estate, is a label that confirms the Tuscan Coast area's tradition of producing great rosés with a marine and Mediterranean profile. In the goblet, it presents itself with a beautiful bright pink colour. The bouquet is intense and fine, with scents of rose petals, aromas of raspberry, red currant, wild strawberry, morello cherry, pomegranate, hints of Mediterranean maquis herbs and a touch of spice. The sip is clear and savoury, with ripe, generous fruit that stretches harmoniously toward a fresh finish with good flavour persistence. This is the ideal label for those who like rich, complex rosés.
