WHISKY 'FROM THE BARREL' NIKKA - 50CL DESCRIPTION

Nikka's "From The Barrel" Whisky is a creative and multifaceted creation of Masataka Taketsuru, a visionary and eclectic genius whose idea originated in 1894 from an ancient family of sake producers. In 1924, he became the father of Japanese whisky. The distillery has an underground water source filtered by peat, which is the finest for purity and transparency in whisky production. Over time, Japan has gained worldwide recognition for producing excellent-quality whiskies, such as this champion that matures in oak barrels for a time undisclosed by the distillery. A mystery shrouds this label, making it even more intriguing.

For the production of this Nikka Whisky, the pot stills are still heated with an open flame, following a craft method that most Scottish distilleries have abandoned. With their onion shape, these stills produce a rich and full-bodied spirit. The distillery's location, one kilometre from the sea, gives this whisky a complex character with salty and slightly medicinal notes. The Yoichi distillery takes special care in selecting casks manufactured on-site with young oak, a practice becoming less common in Scotland.

Nikka's "From The Barrel" is a whisky full of character and exuberance. On the nose, it is balanced with floral notes of lilac, fresh fruit, and prominent sweet spices. It is full-bodied and impactful on the palate, with hints of spices and soft caramel marrying with notes of caramel and vanilla. The finish is long and fruity with oak and spice notes. One of the best blends currently in circulation, it triumphed in its category at the renowned World Whiskies Awards in 2007 and 2010.
