The Whiskymaker's Reserve #5 from The Lakes Distillery is a Single Malt Whisky matured in the finest Oloroso, Pedro Ximenez and red wine casks, including Spanish and American oak. It is an elegant and vibrant evolution, possessing the same sherry and wood characteristics as its predecessors. A whisky with seductive aromatic notes of dark chocolate and dried fruit, and a smooth finish with intricate layers of wood spice.
The Single Malt Whisky ‘Whiskymaker’s Reserve #5’ from the British company The Lakes Distillery represents an elegant and precious whisky characterized by intoxicating aromas given by aging in ex-sherry and ex-red wine oak barrels. This bottle is part of the ‘Whiskymaker’s Reserve’ selection, which in turn is part of the Single Malt Whisky collection, a range that encompasses single malt whiskies produced in search of the pure beauty of this noble distillate. In particular, the ‘Whiskymaker’s Reserve’ line includes labels that explore the art of aging and blending whisky, defining the style based on aging in ex-sherry barrels that distinguishes The Lakes distillery. The number 5 is the latest in this award-winning selection and aims to reflect the character of the fortified wines previously contained in the same barrels used for its long maturation.
The Lakes Distillery Single Malt Whisky ‘Whiskymaker’s Reserve #5’ is produced from only unpeated barley malt mixed with water from the Lake District National Park. The malt mash is fermented for about 96 hours by yeast strains specially selected by master distiller Dhavall Gandhi, and the subsequent slow distillation takes place in Pot Still copper stills according to the traditional discontinuous method. The prolonged aging phase takes place in fine Spanish and American oak barrels that previously contained red wine and Oloroso and PX sherry. The whisky is finally bottled without cold filtration.
The Single Malt Whisky ‘Whiskymaker’s Reserve #5’ from The Lakes Distillery is dark amber in color with coppery reflections. The nose expresses enticing notes of dried fruit and dark chocolate, enriched by intense hints of honey, fine woods, and spices. Soft and velvety on the palate, with a rich and persistent finish consistent with the olfactory perceptions.
