Casa Setaro is a historic winery located in the town of Trecase, in the province of Naples, and its 10 hectares of vineyards climb the volcanic slopes of the Vesuvius, made of lapilli and lava stone. The area is protected as a Natural Park for the biodiversity and fertility of its soils, and it is here that Massimo Setaro, assisted by his wife Mariarosaria, gathers the winemaking heritage of the generations that preceded him. After learning the basics of traditional winemaking, Massimo decided that the time had come to upgrade the family winery. This was made possible through the installation of technological innovations with a contemporary twist, in order to disseminate the culture of his volcanic Vesuvian wines in the best possible way.

The grape varieties that Casa Setaro cultivates are among the native Campanian varieties, specifically from the Vesuvius area. Among them there is also a virtually unknown vine, familiar to the Setaro family for generations but never quite as popular as it is now: Caprettone, a white Vesuvius vine from which the white Lacryma Christi and an innovative Classic Method sparkling wine are made. In addition, there are also the typical Falanghina, Aglianico and Piedirosso, which is named after the colour of the ripening bunches, similar to pigeon's feet.

The Casa Setaro winery manages its vineyards with a deep love for nature, knowledge of the land, passion and dedication. The winery gets its name from the philosophy that Massimo applies to this business, emphasising that the winery aims to have roots as solid as those of the centuries-old vines that grow abundantly on the Vesuvian soil, spreading the peace and serenity that the concept of "home", or ''casa'', conveys. In fact, even the cellar is part of the family home, dug out under the volcanic rock to maintain a constant temperature and humidity throughout the year. Before arriving in the cellar, the bunches of grapes obtained from each harvest undergo several selections to ensure that only the most intact and healthy grapes are used in the vinification process. This results in fascinating wines that faithfully represent a deeply volcanic and mineral terroir.
