The best place to start when describing Villa Sparina is in its cellars: the great 18th-century vaults that extend into the estate's basement are a living testimony to its winemaking past and how this tradition continues to be expressed in its wines today. The Villa, once owned by the Marquis Franzoni of Genoa, experienced a new enological revival when in 1954 it was purchased by the Moccagatta family, who turned it into a real gem among the hills of the Monterotondo area. The estate's first harvest was in 1974 and since then its production has been characterised by a strong focus on uncompromising quality, which has enabled it to define a clear personality with every single sip.

Villa Sparina has around 100 hectares of property surrounding the estate, of which around 65 hectares are vineyards surrounded by woods. Here, under the bright sunshine and caressed by the breezes blowing in from the Ligurian Sea, the native varieties of Cortese and Barbera ripen. Thanks to modern and creative winemaking processes, they give life to an elegant, surprising and long-lived production, which over the years has become the best representative of the winery. The Moccagatta family has rebuilt the strong historical identity of the Villa, drawing on its past and laying the foundations for a solid future.

The unmistakable, territorial style of Villa Sparina is reflected not only in the ongoing quest for excellence vintage after vintage, but also - literally - in its bottles. Their particular shape, inspired by ancient bottles found during the restructuring of the estate, is perfectly suited: round but with good structure, and as harmonious and characteristic as the nectar they contain. Even the choice of colour is by no means left to chance, recalling the typical ripening colour of the Cortese grape and confirming the Villa's firmest philosophy: wine is a creative principle. On the basis of this belief, the winery has been able to invest technically in its own continuous innovation, constantly striving to pay tribute to the vineyard and its fruit.
