'ROSALIA' CONSTANTINA SOTELO 2022 DESCRIPTION

Constantina Sotelo's 'Rosalia' is a Spanish white wine that makes agile fluidity its strong point, although it is not without a certain complexity. We are in Galicia, in the Rias Baixas, where the winemaker Constantina Sotelo interprets the Albariño grape in a pure and genuine manner, processed according to different styles in such a way as to show its many facets and oenological aptitudes. This indigenous grape variety is characterised by its wines with considerable acidity and a distinctive aromatic note, in some respects similar to that of Viognier, a variety with which it has nothing to do. Constantina cultivates Albariño through a local pergola training system called 'parral', which counteracts the high humidity of the area, thus obtaining healthy grapes.
Constantina Sotelo 'Rosalia' is a pure Albariño from pergola-trained vines on soils rich in gravel from granite disintegration. The agronomic management applied is in total harmony with nature and the vines benefit from the characteristic cool, oceanic climate of the Rias Baixas. In the cellar, the alcoholic fermentation takes place spontaneously in steel tanks through the action of indigenous yeasts and the subsequent maturation period of approximately one year on the fine lees also takes place in steel. Throughout the processing and ageing process, the mass is not subjected to clarification, filtration or the addition of sulphites.
To the eye, Constantina Sotelo's Galician Abariño 'Rosalia' reveals an intense straw yellow colour. Hints of grapefruit, fresh flowers and white-fleshed fruit characterise the nose together with pleasant mineral nuances reminiscent of the ocean. The taste is fresh and savoury, smooth and drinkable, with a vibrant, slightly aromatic finish.
