PINOT GRIS ATTEMS 2023 DESCRIPTION

Attems' Pinot Grigio is one of the Friulian winery's most famous and appreciated labels. It is particularly loved abroad, where Pinot Grigio has managed to win over many enthusiasts thanks to its soft and smooth profile, characterized by rich and expansive aromas. Arriving in Friuli in the 19th century, along with other international varieties, the grape variety adapted particularly well to the microclimate of the Collio Goriziano area, where it expresses itself at excellent quality levels. The typical salty freshness of the terroir pairs very well with the intense aromas, creating a perfect gustatory balance.

Attems' Pinot Grigio is the result of the experience of a historic Friulian estate, whose origins date back to the 12th century. Today, the property extends over 44 hectares in one of the most vocated areas for producing great whites. The Pinot Grigio vineyards are located in the flatlands and on the first slopes that rise towards the hilly area of Gorizia. The soils are partly characterized by the presence of alluvial deposits of gravel and pebbles mixed with clay and, in the higher area, by sedimentations of sandstones and calcareous marls resulting from ancient marine outcrops of Eocene origin. The grape harvest is carried out manually between the end of August and the beginning of September. The grapes are pressed very gently, and after static decantation, the must ferments in stainless steel tanks and partly in barrels at a controlled temperature of 15-17 °C. The wine matures on the fine lees for several months to acquire greater structure and aromatic complexity.

Attems' Friulian Pinot Grigio is a young and fragrant version of the famous French grape variety, focusing on enhancing the rich aromatic palette of the grapes. With a beautiful straw yellow colour and bright reflections, it offers aromas of ripe white-fleshed fruit, hints of plum, floral nuances, and delicate spicy notes that enrich its bouquet. Harmonious and ample, it stands out on the palate with juicy and smooth fruit, soft and enveloping. The finish is balanced, fresh, and very persistent.
