La maison Taittinger was established in 1931, when Pierre Taittinger, the founder of the company, purchase the current headquarters. Pierre had spent much time in the Champagne region, while serving in the army during World War I, as the first cavalry officer. Stationed at the Château de la Marquetterie, fell in love with this beautiful property and its vineyards and eventually bought it. Today, the house is located in Reims and is headed by the nephew of Pierre, Pierre-Emmanuel Taittinger and his children Clovis and Vitalie. The hallmark of the Champagne Taittinger is definitely the high percentage of Chardonnay used in making wine, which can range from 40% up to 100% of the "Comtes de Champagne", top wine cellar. This brings the dominance of Chardonnay Champagne Taittinger to be absolutely elegant, delicate and balanced: characteristics that have earned the maison numerous awards over the years.
