Amarone Classico Magnum Zenato 2018

Zenato

Zenato's Classico is a Amarone full-bodied and intense that gives us an enveloping bouquet with aromas ranging from ripe cherry to coffee and cocoa. In the mouth it is soft and intriguing, savory and warm also thanks to the 30-month aging in barrels and barriques. A Magnum that lends itself well to a great occasion!

AMARONE CLASSICO MAGNUM ZENATO 2018 DESCRIPTION

Zenato's Amarone della Valpolicella Classico faithfully reflects the characteristic attributes of the type, namely warmth, envelopment and smoothness, while managing not to be heavy or tiring. The Zenato estate represents one of the historic names in the Veronese region, founded by Sergio Zenato in 1960 and now led by his children Alberto and Nadia, with the support of his mother, Clara. The winery's headquarters are located in Peschiera del Garda, on the Venetian shore of Lake Garda, where with passion and precision, the family makes a broad production based on the appellations of the territory.

Zenato Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is made from a blend of the traditional grape varieties Corvina Veronese (80 per cent), Rondinella (10 percent), Oseleta (5 percent) and Croatina (5 percent), varieties grown in the vineyards of the municipality of Sant'Ambrogio. Following manual harvesting, carried out when perfectly ripe with a rigorous selection of the bunches, the grapes are placed in controlled drying in fruit lofts for 4 months, during which time the berries lose water concentrating the dry matter content. January is then followed by crushing, which is followed by slow alcoholic fermentation on the skins in stainless steel tanks. The 36-month ageing phase, on the other hand, takes place in large Slavonian oak barrels, and after an additional year of bottle ageing, the wine is finally ready for release.

Amarone della Valpolicella Classico from the family-run Zenato winery has a very intense and consistent ruby red colour. Heady and articulate hints of ripe cherries, almost under spirits, berries, potpourri, mint, cocoa and coffee characterize the olfactory range. The important warmth and enveloping softness on the palate are well supported by excellent freshness and ripe tannins. A Magnum that lends itself well to a great occasion!
