Aurora's Barricadiero Magnum is a tasty and complex Montepulciano made by one of the most important wineries in the Marche region. At a time when the artisanal dimension of wine has come back to the fore, it is not difficult to distinguish between those who try to go with the flow and those who work seriously according to a certain credo. The latter category undoubtedly includes Cantina Aurora, a true institution that, since 1979, the year of the winery's foundation, has always followed a non-interventionist approach to preserve the integrity of the soil and the plant as a legacy for future generations. However, so much quiet work and so few frills have not prevented the winery from landing on the radar of wine lovers or those simply looking for good, serviceable wines at a more than fair price. These wines should never be missing from your cellar to open whenever you feel like it.

The Magnum Barricadiero wine is made from pure Montepulciano grapes that come from at least 20 years old vines, grown on calcareous clay soil with a south and south-west exposure. In the vineyard, the dictates of organic cultivation have always been followed, i.e. no chemical or synthetic substances are used, and only a little copper and sulphur are used. In the cellar, the work is just as meticulous so that the alcoholic fermentation is spontaneous, and the Barricadiero is aged for 24 months in barriques.

The Barricadiero red presents a ruby colour, compact and impenetrable. A nose of great depth, rich with hints ranging from earthy to blackberry, from cocoa to leather, all receding with a gradual and dazzling expressiveness. The sip is full and rich but never static, constantly countered by lively tannic friction. Class and harmony for a magnum format.

Deep ruby red, impenetrable

Smooth and full, warm and tannic, with a rich fruity finish

Pleasant notes of iris, lavender, cherries and berries, with delicates notes of incense and spices
