'CAPITEL FOSCARINO' ANSELMI 2022 DESCRIPTION

'Capitel Foscarino' is a wine produced in the Soave area, one of Italy's most historic and traditional areas for great whites. It is made from a judicious blend of Garganega, the area's indigenous white grape variety, to which a small percentage of Chardonnay is added. The two grape varieties marry and complement each other harmoniously, but what makes the wine special is its territorial connotation. The volcanic soils of the Soave area contribute to the characteristic savoury and mineral notes that enrich the wine's fruity bouquet.

'Capitel Foscarino' is a wine that expresses great territorial typicality. It is produced on the Anselmi estate in Monteforte di Alpone, in the splendid hilly area to the east of the city of Verona. The wine bears the name Foscarino on its label, a hill that represents one of the most vocated cru in the Soave area. The Anselmi vineyard is located on the summit of Foscarino, at an altitude of approximately 350 metres above sea level. It is a plot of 10 hectares characterised by soil of volcanic origin, consisting mainly of tuffs. The grapes are harvested by hand, with careful selection of the best bunches in the vineyard and at two different times: in September to preserve the right acidity and in October to obtain the maximum intensity and aromatic richness of the grapes. After destemming and a short cold maceration, the grapes are gently pressed and the must is fermented in steel vats at a temperature of 16°C. The wine matures for about six months in steel vats on its own yeasts with periodic bâtonnage. It completes its ageing with a further 6 months in bottle before release.

The 'Capitel Foscarino' from the Soave Anselmi winery is a white wine with a strong personality, which conveys in the glass all the mineral characteristics of the volcanic soils of the Foscarino cru. It has a brilliant straw yellow colour. On the nose it expresses aromas of wild flowers, yellow fruit, medlar, apricot and hints of tropical. The palate is harmonious and beautifully aromatic, with a fresh finish on characteristic savoury notes.
