Ribolla Gialla 'Vinnae' Jermann 2014

Jermann's Ribolla Gialla 'Vinnae' is a wine of rural straightforwardness that manages to retain a surprising elegance. It is made on Friuli soil of marl and sandstone, the so-called 'ponca', typical of the Collio area. Fresh and sapid, it has intense aromas of white flowers, enveloped by fresh notes of green apple and citrus fruits, followed by hints of minerality and a very long finish. We recommend pairing it with classic fish hors d'oeuvres, spaghetti with clams or herb risottos

RIBOLLA GIALLA 'VINNAE' JERMANN 2014 DESCRIPTION

Vinnae is the wine that quintessentially expresses the tri-fold territorial soul of the Jermann winery, situated at the crossroads of Friuli, Austria, and Slovenia. It draws inspiration from the blend of a representative grape variety of this region, Ribolla Gialla. The history of the Jermann winery begins with a generational changeover straddling Central Europe: in 1881, the founder Anton Jermann left the Austrian wine region of Burgenland and then the vineyards in Slovenia to establish new roots in Friuli, in the heart of the Collio area. In this historic 2014 vintage, one can find all the charm of a mature wine with immense aging potential.

Today, 130 hectares of vineyards form the backdrop to a production that has brought the name of the Jermann winery to the pinnacle of white wine production in Italy. Among these, Vinnae undoubtedly deserves attention, born in 1983 from grapes grown on the marly soils of Collio, with a characteristic rocky subsoil traditionally known as "Ponca."

The Ribolla, Tocai, and Riesling vineyards used for the production of Vinnae benefit from varied exposures ranging from Southeast to Northwest, in the vineyards of the Villanova estate in Farra d'Isonzo. Created to celebrate one hundred years of the Jermann family's dedication to the vineyard, Vinnae is a fresh and balanced wine, with a structure smoothed by skillful aging in Slavonian oak, marked by pronounced sapidity and an extremely pleasant dry finish.
