'BUCA DELLE CANNE' LA STOPPA - 50 CL DESCRIPTION

Buca delle Canne' from the La Stoppa winery is a rare and precious label, produced in the Colli Piacentini, but with an eye on Bordeaux and in particular the great sweet wines of Sauternes. It is a fascinating passito made from pure Sémillon grapes, attacked by Botrytis Cinerea, which dehydrates the berries giving aromas of great intensity and elegance. It is only made in favourable vintages, when all the climatic conditions favouring the presence of noble rot in the vineyard occur. Its complexity and aromatic richness make it a nectar that blends sweetness, soft spiciness and tertiary aromas of rare finesse.

Buca delle Canne' wine is a true speciality, made by one of the most important wineries in the Colli Piacentini area. The La Stoppa estate is located in Ancarano di Rivergaro and owns 58 hectares, about half of which are planted with vines and cultivated with the typical grapes of the area: Malvasia di Candia Aromatica, Ortrugo, Trebbiano, Barbera and Bonarda. The area has always been home to the cultivation of vines, thanks to a mild and windy climate and suitable soils. Elena Pantaleoni runs the company with great passion, applying the principles of organic farming and trying to favour environmental biodiversity, leaving grassy inter-rows and large areas of woodland at the edge of the vineyards. The Sémillon grapes come from a small plot cultivated with almost 100-year-old vines of particular value. Bunches attacked by Botrytis Cinerea are gently pressed and the must ferments spontaneously with only indigenous yeasts in old French oak barrels. Ageing takes place in wood and then continues in the bottle.

La Stoppa's 'Buca delle Canne' raisin wine is a bottle for connoisseurs, who appreciate the refined style of muffato wines. Due to its particular characteristics, it goes very well with dry pastries or a board of blue or mature cheeses. To the eye, it is dark amber in colour, with light antique gold reflections. The bouquet is elegant and complex, with aromas of dried fruit, almonds, dehydrated apricots, candied fruit, sultanas, spicy hints of saffron and turmeric, notes of noble woods and persuasive honeyed and musty nuances. The entry on the palate is rich and warm, with a finely faceted palette of aromas characterised by remarkable depth and persistence of flavour. The finish is long, harmonious and balanced.
