CHARDONNAY VOLPE PASINI 2022 DESCRIPTION

The Volpe Pasini Chardonnay is part of the Friulian winery's collection of classic wines, created to showcase and highlight the varietal characteristics of the most important grape varieties grown on the estate and the specificity of the soils of the Colli Orientali, composed of Flysch or ponca in Friulian. The excellent quality of the grapes, rich in scents and aromas, is carefully preserved through a delicate vinification process carried out exclusively in steel. Thanks to this production process, the Chardonnay is able to manifest its authentic face with transparency and immediacy, giving a fragrant and harmonious sip.

The white Chardonnay is one of the most famous wines from the Togliano di Torreano winery. Volpe Pasini owns more than 50 hectares of vineyards in the hilly areas of Togliano and Prepotto, among the most vocated in the Colli Orientali. The mild, breezy microclimate and soils consisting of ancient sedimentations of sandstone and calcareous marl, are very suitable for viticulture, which for centuries has been one of the main resources of these lands on the border with Slovenia. The Chardonnay grapes come from the Zanolli vineyard, located near Villa Rosa. This is a 15-hectare plot that traditionally yields fragrant, fruity grapes. At the end of the harvest, the bunches are subjected to a gentle pressing, followed by fermentation of the must in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The wine matures for a few months in steel tanks and then completes its maturation in the bottle.

The Volpe Pasini 2022 Chardonnay wine is a fine interpretation of this famous grape variety of French origin, which arrived in Friuli during the 19th century and immediately acclimatised very well to the local soils and microclimate. This flagship white from the winery has a luminous straw-yellow colour. Refined and elegant, it seduces with aromas of orange blossom and white flowers, aromas of white-fleshed fruit, ripe citrus fruits and nuances of aromatic herbs from the Mediterranean maquis. Full-bodied and intense, it offers a fragrant and rich, fruity and crisp taste experience, closing on pleasantly fresh and savoury notes.
