SPUMANTE BRUT 'CHIAROR SUL MASSO' I CARPINI DESCRIPTION

Spumante Brut 'Chiaror Sul Masso', from the winery I Carpini, is a Charmat Method of great freshness and fragrance. Its romantic name derives from the place where it is born. The white limestone rocks, on full moon nights, reflect a silvery light, creating a suspended and fascinating atmosphere. The wine is made from pure Timorasso, the native grape typical of the Colli Tortonesi area. A grape long forgotten and only rediscovered in recent decades by a few tenacious winegrowers who believed in its qualities. A gamble won, which allows us to enjoy an excellent sparkling wine, floral, fruity and pleasantly savoury.

'Chiaror Sul Masso' is a Spumante Brut made by one of the most important realities of the Colli Tortonesi. The I Carpini estate is managed under organic farming methods and produces wines with a genuine and immediate character, the direct expression of grapes of excellent quality, without resorting to too many oenological mediations. The Timorasso grapes are the fruit of a single plot called Vigna Maddalena, which is located at an altitude of around 380 metres above sea level, facing north and north-east. Harvesting is done manually, slightly in advance, to preserve the right freshness needed to make an excellent sparkling wine base. The best grapes undergo a one-day maceration on the skins followed by a very soft pressing. Fermentation is started spontaneously using only indigenous yeasts in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The base wine rests for a year on its fine lees in stainless steel tanks before being transferred to an autoclave for prise de mousse and second fermentation.

The Spumante Brut 'Chiaror Sul Masso', from the I Carpini estate, is a fine version of Timorasso, which highlights the good propensity of the vine even for sparkling wine, with results that are among the most interesting of all in the field of indigenous grape varieties. It has a brilliant pale straw yellow colour with luminous reflections, with a perlage of good fineness and persistence. The bouquet is characterised by scents of wildflowers, fragrances of lemon peel and ripe citrus fruits, aromas of white-fleshed fruit and soft hints of bread crust and small pastries. The palate is intense and creamy, with rich, enveloping fruit that flows into a savoury finish of clear mineral freshness.
