SPUMANTE METODO CLASSICO PAS DOSÉ 'ALFIERE' CROCI DESCRIPTION

Croci's Spumante Metodo Classico Pas Dosé "Alfiere" is a wine with many faces, in which the expressive directness of Ortrugo and the elegance of a perfectly centred metodo classico coexist together. Massimiliano Croci is an icon of artisanal wine from Emilia, a producer capable, like few others, of sincerely and engagingly telling the story of his land of origin, the same land where Ortrugo, Malvasia di Candia, Barbera and Croatina are the princes of the vineyard and populate it in an authoritative manner. Heir to a family tradition, so much so that the founding of the winery dates back to 1935, Massimiliano has never thought of resorting to shortcuts or prevaricating the powerful expressiveness of the place but has decided to accompany it without any prevarication. Massimilano's are thus true wines of the heart, charged with emotionality and passion and almost unparalleled value for money.

Metodo Classico "Alfiere" is an expression of pure Ortrugo from vineyards resting on sandy-clay soils of Pliocene origin. In the vineyard, as already mentioned, work is done without any force, excluding the use of any chemical or synthetic substance and helping only with small amounts of copper and sulfur. In the cellar, the same credo is followed, with strictly spontaneous alcoholic fermentations and re-fermentation in the bottle in the case of Alfiere, according to the Metodo Classico. Finally, it ages for 18 months on the lees.

Croci's Alfiere appears in the glass with a straw-coloured robe and lively, persistent bubbles. A fragrant first nose of bread crust and hydrocarbons, supplemented in the second line by hints of citrus zest, medlar and herbs. Full, dry sip, yet filling and creamy, for what is a well-rounded bubble, capable of routing far more emblazoned appellations blindly. Outsider.
