Cantine del Notaio undoubtedly represents one of the viticultural excellences of Basilicata, which has had the merit of showing the thousand facets of the territory's prince black grape variety: the Aglianico. In fact, this ancient variety, known since the times of Ancient Greece and mentioned by the Roman poet Horace, stands out for its amazing oenological versatility as well as for the fine organoleptic attributes of the finished wine. Although the family's winemaking tradition has been handed down for as many as 7 generations, Cantine del Notaio was officially born in 1998, when Gerardo Giuratrabocchetti began to devote himself to the business his father had interrupted to pursue a career as a notary public. In managing the estate, Gerardo is joined by his wife Marcella Libutti and Luigi Moio, renowned oenologist and professor of oenology at the Federico II University of Naples. The common goal is to enhance Aglianico del Vulture by combining tradition, history, innovation and culture of the territory.

The 40 hectares of the property are distributed in 7 main plots in the Vulture area, which is characterized by soils of volcanic nature particularly rich in minerals, as well as by the presence of tuff at depth, a rock that allows a constant water supply during the driest periods. The vines are located between 430 and 600 meters above sea level, and some vineyards are more than 100 years old. As mentioned, the most cultivated grape variety is Aglianico, which alone accounts for about 70 percent of the area planted with vines. The other varieties grown are Moscato Bianco di Basilicata, Malvasia Bianca di Basilicata, Chardonnay, Fiano and Sauvignon Blanc. Cultivation techniques are inspired by organic and biodynamic criteria, and once the grapes are ripe, they are hand-picked and carefully selected. Being dug into the volcanic tuff, Cantine del Notaio's vinification and aging rooms are the ideal environment for storing wines thanks to their ability to maintain temperature and humidity at constant and optimal values all year round.

The selection of labels is wide and diverse, aimed mainly at revealing the extraordinary ductility of Aglianico, vinified in red, white, rosé and even sparkling. Typical and classy expressions, capable of transferring the Vulture territory into the glass.
