The Magellan Gin, which is famous for its blue colour, is named after the great Portuguese navigator Ferdinand Magellan, who set off from Seville in 1519 and first sailed along the coasts of Africa and then South America until he discovered a new sea route. This was a natural channel north of the Tierra del Fuego, which became known as the Strait of Magellan. The new route avoided the dangerous Cape Horn Passage and made it possible to venture into the Pacific Ocean without encountering the storms and gale-force winds of Antarctica. The Gin is produced in the south-west of France in the Charente department, where the great Cognacs are made. The Angeac Distillery takes its name from the small village of Angeac-Charente and benefits from centuries of experience in the art of distillation spread throughout the Cognac production area.

It is no coincidence that this ancient savoir-faire led to the idea of producing a high quality gin, exploiting the area's finest techniques. The production process is particularly lengthy and accurate, and is based on a triple distillation to obtain a grain alcohol of particular finesse and elegance, to which a fourth distillation is added to extract all the fragrances and aromas from the botanicals. The secret of the Angeac Distillery lies in this painstaking process, which has been inspired by the way Charente white wines are distilled to produce extraordinary Cognac. This culture is also applied to other spirits, resulting in labels with the same degree of refined finesse as the region's most famous Cognacs.

The peculiarity of the small French Angeac Distillery is that it produces only one label, the Magellan Gin, which is an authentic style icon. A selection of spices and aromatic herbs inspired by Magellan's circumnavigation of the globe is combined with the finesse of the starting distillate. These include 11 botanicals, such as cloves, iris root and flowers, juniper berries, cinnamon, cassia, citrus peel, coriander, liquorice, Guinea pepper, cardamom and nutmeg. The distillate is then diluted with the purest and lightest waters from the springs of Gensac. The final result is a gin with a fresh and essential profile, which expresses floral notes and hints of oriental spices and aromatic herbs against a characteristic background of juniper. A true sensorial journey through the trade winds and exotic aromas from far away.
