Domaine Fontaine-Gagnard is located in Chassagne-Montrachet, in the southern part of the Côte de Beaune, in one of the most prestigious and historically rich areas of Burgundy. The estate was created in 1985 by a family that has been cultivating vineyards in these lands for several centuries. It can count on centuries of experience of an ancient savoir faire, founded on a profound knowledge of the facets of the terroir and traditional winemaking techniques. The vineyards extend over a total of 12 hectares, subdivided into numerous parcels, located mainly in the communal territories of Chassagne-Montrachet, Volnay and Pommard, some of the most famous Appellations in the Côte d'Or.

Work in the countryside is carried out in complete harmony with nature, following the development of the plants with passion throughout the various seasons. Work is carried out by hand and after winter pruning, the vines are followed with great care, with the sole objective of always keeping the plants healthy, in an optimal environment for their development. The knowledge that the estate's wealth lies in its precious heritage of vines, has been passed down from generation to generation and still represents the value on which the foundations of the domaine rest. Each parcel is followed individually according to the soil and climatic peculiarities, so that the best can always be obtained from each terroir. The result is healthy grapes, which are harvested at full maturity to obtain particularly rich and intense aromas.

Vinification is carried out in the classic way, following the traditions of the terroir. The guiding principle is always to preserve the characteristics of the grapes with minimal intervention, thanks to the use of light oenology. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts and the wines mature in French oak barrels for a period of 12 to 18 months, depending on the label. The domaine takes great care in the choice of wood, both in terms of the area of origin and the ageing and subsequent processes.
