Bodega Esmeralda Garcia is a small artisanal winery based near Segovia, a small town north of Madrid, right in the heart of Spain. Coming from a family originally from Rueda, one of the regions of the Iberian Peninsula most famous for the production of great fragrant and aromatic whites, Esmeralda Garcia decided early on to devote herself to viticulture. Once she finished her studies in oenology, she worked in several wineries, accumulating valuable experience, until she decided to set up her own business to create her own project. The need to produce a genuine wine and a great love for her land and the history of vine cultivation in Spain led her towards courageous and fascinating choices, soon rewarded by the success of her passionate work.

To create her estate, Esmeralda Garcia chose to rely on old vineyards in the Segovia area. These are ancient plots cultivated on sandy soils, which have preserved a heritage of more than a hundred-year-old vines still trained on bush-trained vines. Prephylloxera verdejo vines, which are between 130 and 200 years old, of ancient biotypes that produce few bunches per plant but of absolutely exceptional quality. The presence of sandy soils, in which phylloxera cannot survive, has kept this area safe from the devastation that almost completely destroyed European vineyards in the late 19th century.

The estate is located at an altitude of over 900 metres above sea level, in an area characterised by a typically continental climate, which is hot and dry, but with good ventilation and considerable differences between daytime and night-time temperatures. The property covers a total area of about five hectares, which are managed with extreme care and attention, in full respect of nature, without the use of chemicals. The individual plots are vinified separately to bring out and enhance the nuances of a great terroir. Esmeralda Garcia's philosophy is based on a light oenology that respects the raw material with delicate vinification, aimed at bringing the fruit of plants, which are true monuments of viticulture, into the glass. Its wines possess the charm of the past, allowing one to savour the authentic and ancient taste of a great grape variety in its maximum varietal expression.
