Tuscan winemaker Stefano Amerighi has emerged over the years as one of the greatest Italian interpreters of Syrah, establishing himself as one of the most renowned artisanal producers on the Peninsula. Stefano founded his vineyard in 2002, cultivating the precise goal of producing exceptional Syrah through artisanal methods and techniques, employing biodynamic agriculture. He identified the area of Poggiobello di Farneta, in the municipality of Cortona, as the perfect place to fulfill his dream, planting Syrah vines selected from the best clones of the Rhône Valley. With the experience gained in the field, Stefano Amerighi's cellar can now be considered a true laboratory of agricultural sustainability.

Stefano Amerighi's estate comprises just over 8 hectares of vineyards dedicated to Syrah, enjoying south and southwest exposures and cultivated according to certified organic and biodynamic agriculture. In this perspective, only low doses of copper and sulfur are used in defense against phytopathogenic agents, biodynamic preparations are used to stimulate the vitality of soil and plants, and agronomic operations are carried out according to lunar and planetary phases. The same sustainable approach is adopted in the cellar, where the use of wine additives and enological aids is strictly excluded. The processing practice involves destemming the hand-harvested clusters, which are then partly gently pressed with the feet and partly left whole. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in cement thanks to the action of indigenous yeasts, without temperature control. After fermentation processes, the masses spend approximately 14 months aging in wooden barrels and cement tanks and are finally bottled without undergoing any filtration or stabilization. Stefano also uses terracotta amphorae in winemaking.

Stefano Amerighi is synonymous with Syrah, a black grape variety that the producer offers in different versions, from rosé to reds of exceptional thickness and character that nod to the great wines of the Rhône. Among these, the 'Apice' Syrah undoubtedly stands out, an elegant and energetic label produced only in the best vintages.
