The soul, heart and mind of the Denavolo winery belong to Giulio Armani, the famous winemaker of La Stoppa. In 2005 he founded this small winery, which takes its name from the locality in the municipality of Travo, in the Trebbia Valley, where it is based. Only a few producers can boast the expertise of Giulio Armani, who has always been committed to the quest for authentic Emilian wines with an ancient charm, produced by reviving the most traditional local techniques.

The winery's vineyards extend over small plots of land on a very calcareous terrain on Mount Dinavolo, between 400 and 500 metres above sea level. Here the most typical grape varieties of the area, mainly white, are cultivated using ecological and sustainable practices, using only copper and sulphur. These include Malvasia di Candia, Marsanne and Ortrugo, but also Trebbiano Romagnolo and other minor varieties. In the cellar, the wine is processed with long maceration on the skins, spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, no addition of sulphites and no filtration. These practices, which differ from the conventional winemaking methods, have been experimented by Giulio for many years at the La Stoppa winery and have become the symbol of a new yet ancient way of producing wine.

The wines of the Denavolo winery reflect the most direct, traditional and fundamentalist side of wine-making in the Emilia region. They are paradigmatic, rustic, dynamic, expressive and at times instinctive wines, always capable of astonishing and providing great satisfaction.
